It’s no secret Wellington faces challenges. Let’s do something about them.
2025 Panel Series

Our goal is to help set a direction for Wellington’s future by collaborating with local experts and engaging with Wellingtonians. We acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers, but we believe that we can help find them.
Funding the past at the expense of the future
Of the city’s $817 million operating budget, just 0.15% – or $1.2 million – was spent fostering the next generation of job creators. That’s less than the council’s weekly interest bill, or about what it’ll spend on staff in the next two days.
For now, it’s up to us
Forget relentless negativity or living in denial, we believe real, positive change will be driven by great Wellingtonians — and backed by a city that believes in itself.
What we want to achieve
Vision for Wellington is fighting the idea that Wellington's best days are behind it, says Peter Biggs.
Film maker James Cameron to head up Vision for Wellington event series
Acclaimed film director James Cameron who lives in and runs his global business from Wellington – and who is soon to become a New Zealand citizen, will share his insights on how to ensure the city's flourishing at a Vision for Wellington's inaugural public event scheduled for Wednesday 19 February 2025.

Vision for Wellington unites people passionate about Wellington and committed to seeing our city thrive.
We’re a nonpartisan, collective voice advocating for Wellington and aiming to set a bold direction for the city.
