How can Wellington grab the world’s attention?

Distinctiveness—alongside innovation, talent, and connectedness—is a hallmark of every successful city. Right now, Wellington ranks 60th in the IESE Cities in Motion index, but when it comes to international profile, we tumble to 119th out of 183 cities. We know we can do better.

In this bold, uplifting conversation we talked about how Wellington can grab global attention and become truly distinctive. We heard sharp, TED-style presentations from five thinkers and doers who are passionate about making Wellington world-famous and boosting tourism, liveability, and pride in our city.

Each brought a provocative idea to the table, sparking fresh thinking and discussion.
